HOBBS, NM–NOVEMBER 1, 2025–Forty-two state-bred juveniles lined up in five trials Saturday afternoon at Zia Park for the $170,000-added New Mexico Classic Futurity-RG2, with the three fastest qualifiers all coming out of the fourth trial of the evening.

Homebred Pour Me A Drink, a 2-year-old gelding by Prospect To The Top, delivered a determined effort under champion jockey James Flores. He posted the fastest qualifying time of 17.211 seconds, earning a 99 speed index while drawing clear by a half-length over Fire Powwer and Cq Coyame Jessy.

After a bump at the break, he drifted slightly midway but maintained his stride to edge clear over his rivals. Pour Me A Drinkk is owned, trained, and bred by Fred Danley in New Mexico out of First Cowgirl Flash by First Moonflash. He picked up $7,200 from the $12,000 trial purse, bringing his total earnings to $30,980.

Pour Me A Drinkk has lit the board four of five starts with two career wins, including a trial win with the fastest qualifying time to the New Mexico State Fair Futurity-G2 in October.

Fire Powwer, a consistent stakes performer this season, posted the second-fastest time of :17.302 seconds with a 97 speed index under Omar Iturralde. The Big Daddy Cartel gelding fought gamely throughout the 350 yards, dueling early before being caught late. He is trained by Tony E. Sedillo for CHR Racing and was bred by La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC.

Out of Dahlia by Walk Thru Fire, Fire Powwer has already made a name for himself on the New Mexico circuit, capturing the New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes and finishing second in the New Mexico Breeders’ Futurity-G2 earlier this year. The $40,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate has earned $111,418 from seven starts.

Third-fastest Cq Coyame Jessy, another son of Big Daddy Cartel, closed strongly to stop the clock in :17.361 seconds with a 95 speed index under Jesse Lee Levario. Trained by Ismael Villalobos for Israel Bordier, who also co-bred him with Carlos Paez, the gelding is out of Runaway Leonarda by Jesse James Jr.

Cq Coyame Jessy, a fourth-place finisher in the New Mexico State Fair Futurity-G2, has now earned $92,986 in seven outings.
