My Favorite Candy Gets Second Futurity Win in Sunday's AQRA-Turf Paradise Open

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 15, 2019—My Favorite Candy, under jockey Rodolfo Arvizu, held well while getting crowded by Wr Jokers Wild to win the $40,945 AQRA-Turf Paradise Open Quarter Horse Futurity by a neck Sunday at Turf Paradise.

Conditioned by trainer Antonio Soto, My Favorite Candy completed the 400 yards in :19.828 seconds, equaling a 90-speed index. It was the second futurity win for the son of leading 2-year-old sire Favorite Cartel and the $20,473 winners' purse doubled his bankroll to $40,311. Racing for owner ABA Quarter Horses, LLC the bay gelding has compiled a (9) 2-3-2 record this season. Guadalupe Bujanda bred My Favorite Candy in California from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Send The Candy Wagon.

Runner-up Wr Jokers Wild was disqualified for interference and placed 5th. Zoom On Bye, a gelded son of Mezoomn was moved up to second, earning $8,189 for owner Thomas Pick. Allen Goodsell conditions the Alberta-bred 2-year-old out of Eyesa Chickin It Out, by Eyesa Special. Bred by Shady Lane Stables, the gray gelding was ridden by Jake Samuels.

Favorite Flight, another gelding by Favorite Cartel, was moved to third for owner-trainer Jesus Torres-Casas. Luis Valenzuela rode the gray gelding out of the Separatist mare Separate Flight. Steve D. Burns is the breeder. Favorite Flight earned $4,095 for the effort.

Completing the official order of finish were Looke At Me, Wr Jokers R Wild, and This Chick Rules. Captain Pyc and I Roll Like That were both scratched.
