Jess Louisiana Dash Posts Top Time In Mardi Gras Training Races
Jess Louisiana Dash, under jockey Ubaldo Luna, posted the fastest time from 13 schooling races for Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) hopefuls Friday afternoon at Louisiana Downs.

Jess Louisiana Dash Posts Top Time In Mardi Gras Training Races

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 31, 2020—The first official training races for 2-year-olds kicked off today in Louisiana and the royally bred Heza Fast Dash filly Jessa Louisiana Dash didn't disappoint her connections.

Ridden by jockey Ubaldo Luna, for trainer Eleazar Martinez, the brown filly posted the top mark of :12.147 seconds in the 13th race, over 220 yards, from 67 state-bred 2-year-olds who contested 13 schooling races at Louisiana Downs.

Participants had to still be eligible to enter the February 22nd $300,000-est. Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2) trials at the Northwest Louisiana racetrack.

Eleazar Martinez paid $25,000 for the full sister to multiple Grade 2 winner Heza Louisiana Dash ($531,041) at the. 2019 LQHBA Yearling Sale in Kinder, Louisiana. Bred by Jumonville Farms and and Burnett Ranch the filly is out of the multiple stakes-producing Mr Jess Perry mare Eyejesslovelouisiana, a half-sister to Grade 1 placed Ducther ($194,833) and Grade 2-placed Eye On Corona ($133,818). This is the family of champion Jess Louisiana Blue.

Apollitcal Bye, under jockey Modesto Pena, records the second fastest schooling time from 13 races contested Friday at Louisiana Downs.

Trainer Wendy Garcia saddled Apollitcal Bye, a son of champion and leading second-crop sire Apollitical Blood, to the second fastest clocking in Race 6 for owner Omar, Omar & Maurico Tovar.

Modesto Pina rode the $23,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate out of multiple stakes-producer Swiftone, by Dashing Bye.

A half-brother to two stakes winners, Apollitcal Bye recorded a time of :12.191 seconds for the 220 yards. Blanchet Farms, LLC, Agent for LeRoy L. Fontenot, Jr. consigned the brown colt to the summer sale.

Garcia saddled five winners on the day to include Shez Pollitical in Race 1, Big Daddys Tee Cos in Race 5, Eos Baby Blood in the Race 11 and Brays Rapid Dash to win the 10th race.

Trainer Jose Sanchez, III got five winners on Friday's training program led by Boxcar, who posted the third-fastest time of :12.248 seconds. Mario and Julia Ramirez own the $16,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale Graduate by multiple stakes sire Freighttrain B from the stakes winning Wooodbridge mare Wood Be Charming.

Jockey Eddie Sanchez had the riding call aboard the sorrel colt.

Sanchez' other training winners on Friday include El Camino Cl in Race 7, Rising Starr in Race 4, Rl Prize Freight in Race 12 and TTT Eileithyia in the Race 2.
