Racing Kane Wins $25,000 Magnolia Stakes-Division I at Harrah's Louisiana Downs

Racing Kane Wins $25,000 Magnolia Stakes-Division I at Harrah's Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA—FEBRUARY 1, 2020—Racing Kane won the first of two divisions of the $25,000 Magnolia Stakes contested Saturday afternoon at Harrah’s Louisiana Downs, proving his prowess at the distance of 870 yards.

Racing Kane, owned by Jesus Coronado, rallied for the win in the first of the two stakes under jockey Juan C. Garcia. Breaking from the inside post, he was able to pass Im Mighty Fast and crossed the wire in :46,826 over a good main track.

Racing Kane ($5.00) was bred by Janelle Simon and trained by Noe Sanchez. The 6-year-old son of Jet Black Patriot out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Janas Perry was the winner of the $30,000 Races and Aces Stakes at Evangeline Downs on November 2, and today’s victory was his eighth in 29 career efforts. His winner’s share of $15,000 increased his lifetime earnings to $101,643.

Im Mighty Fast has competed in the Magnolia Stakes for the past three years, winning the 2017 edition of the race. Rolando Cabrera rode the 7-year-old son of Mighty Corona for owner Triple M Racing Stables LLC and trainer Ricardo Castillo. Brent Cody Leblanc bred the the bay gelding from the Beat The Feet (TB) mare Sheza Fast Doll. Brent Cody Leblanc is the breeder. Im Mighty Fast picked up $5,000 for this effort, bringing his total earning mark to $196,295.

Shesa Game Changer, a daughter of Dashin MVP from the Toast To Dash mare Toast Me Special ran third Anthony Arey trains the 4-yaer-old filly for owner Geral Dewitt. Russel Williams bred the bay filly has earneding of $18,858.

Going to Hollywood completed the order of finish. Miwayornoway broke through the gate and was scratched.

Mardi Gras Schooling Races Held Friday

Louisiana Downs hosted 13 schooling races on Friday, January 31 for Louisiana-breds nominated to the $100,000-added Mardi Gras Futurity (RG2).
