Freakin Patriot Dash Rallies In Magnolia Stakes-Division II at Harrah’s Louisiana Down

BOSSIER CITY, LA—FEBRUARY 1, 2020—In the fifth race at Louisiana Downs Saturday, Freakin Patriot Dash, under jockey Pedro Espinosa, split horses as the post-time favorite to get a nose win over Mr Desert Streak in Division II of the $25,000 Magnolia Stakes.

Owned by Jesus Huitron Lira, the five year old son of multiple stakes sire Game Patriot, broke last in the six-horse field, but rallied for the win by a neck in a final time of :46.993.

Trained by Pedro Lopez, Freakin Patriot Dash was making his second start of the Louisiana Downs Quarter Horse meet. He ran third in the 870-yard Marathon Stakes on January 11, but the experience proved to be very beneficial in today’s effort.

Bred by Bobby Touchet, from the Streak And Dash mare Freakin Dash, Freakin Patriot Dash ($3.20) added $15,000 to his bankroll and has now won six of his 21 career efforts.

Geral Dewitt’s Mr Desert Streak, ridden by Ubaldo Luna, held for second at odds of 18-1. Anthony Arey saddled the First Down Mr Jess 6-year-old from the Walk Streak mare Miss Desert Streak. He picked up $5,000 to increase his earnings mark to $94,695. Gene Terry Flessner is the breeder.

Jrs Natural Runaway, racing for trainer Ricardo Castillo and owner Triple C Racing Stables LLC, finished 3-¼ lengths back to earn $2,750 for third. Rolando Cabrera rode the gray son of multiple stakes sire Sir Runaway Dash out of Bjs Cute N Natural, by Dashs Slinky.

Zoomins Jewel, Hollyhook and Mr Mel completed the field. .
