Jess and Grant got their fourth consecutive win on Saturday at the American Chariot Races at the Golden Spike Events Center in Ogden.

Jess and Grant Sweep Fourth Consecutive American Chariot Racing Event

OGDEN, UT—FEBRUARY 3, 2020—Jess and Grant continued to dominate the American Chariot Racing scene on Saturday with their fourth consecutive win at the Golden Spike Events Center. This time, the win came in the I Can Benefit Race, sponsored by Get Hushin, to benefit the Kearsley I Can Foundation.

Jess and Grant posted the fastest time of the day, :22.19, in race 16, again with Sp Four Square and Train Story.

Train Story is a 7-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding, by Freighttrain B and out of Perry Story, by Mr Jess Perry. As a 2-year-old, he finished third in the Black Gold 440 Championship Futurity (G3) at Will Rogers. He earned over $80,000 in 22 career starts for breeder and owner James Sills.

Sp Four Square is a 5-year-old gelding by Favorite Cartel, out of Fountain Bleu, by Jess Louisiana Blue. He was bred in Utah by Spence Peterson. In 16 starts, Sp Four Square earned $39,299 with five wins, including the Western States Breeders Derby at Sweetwater and the Wyoming Downs Renegade Sports Derby for trainer Monty Arrossa.

Gibson and Wright earned the second fastest time of the day in the following race, also the final race of the day, with 22.30. Racing fans will recognize their team of Time for Jesse Lee and Seeyalateralligtor, who have combined to win over half a million dollars in their careers.

Time for Jesse Lee is a multiple stakes winning son of Mr Jesse Lee, out of Time for Noble, by Mescallero Chick. He was bred by his owner, Jim Walker, in Idaho and was trained by Monty Arrossa. Now a 9-year-old, Time for Jesse Lee won 21 of his 50 career races and earned $219,154. He won multiple stakes in the Intermountain region and often competed at Los Alamitos; he was a leading Challenge program participant and was second in the AQHA John Deer Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) at Los Al in 2013.

Not to be outdone, multiple graded stakes winner Seeyalateralligator completed the team with his earnings of $373,492. Seeyalateralligator was bred by Carolyn Giles and was owned by Jason Giles and Ezra Lee; Jason Giles also trained the 8-year-old gelding. Seeyalateralligator is by Winners Version and is out of Stars in My Eye, by Mr Eye Opener. The New-Mexico bred competed in 13 graded stakes and won the Jess Burner Memorial Handicap (RG1) at Sunland in 2016.

In race 13, Jensen Ropelato and Padgett posted the third fastest time of the day, 22.31, with their team of Namgispoliticaltease and B D Illusion.

Namgispoliticaltease is a 6-year-old gelding by Apollitical Jess and out of the Okey Dowky Dale mare Tease Please. He was bred in Texas by Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches, LP. His flat racing career included allowance and claiming starts at Ruidoso, Albuquerque and Zia for owner Namgis Quarter Horses LLC and trainer Robyne Draper.

His teammate, B D Illusion, is also a 6-year-old Texas-bred gelding. B D Illusion is by Bodacious Dash, out of Effortless Illusion, by Special Effort, bred by Johnny Trotter. He won two of his 21 career efforts, including his Rainbow Derby trial in 2017, and was second in the Rainbow consolation, the Mr Jess Perry Stakes.

Saturday’s 18 races included 16 two-team races and one race with three teams.

The 2019-2020 Chariot racing season continues in Ogden, Utah on Saturday with the Brett Weldon Memorial sponsored by Weldon Construction at the Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden.
