The Prize Ferrarri Impresses In Career Debut, Sets Top Mark in Crush The Curve Futurity Trials

POCATELLO, ID—JUNE 3, 2020—The Prize Ferrarri, a $52,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale Gradate flew from the grade on Wednesday evening in his career debut to set the top qualifying time for the $25,000-est. Crush The Curve Futurity at Pocatello Downs.

Under jockey Jesus Canales, The Prize Ferrarri cruised to a 1-¼ length victory while stopping the clock in :15.542 seconds, earning a 98 speed index over the 300 yard distance to establish the top mark.

Trainer Mark Hanson saddled the Oklahoma-bred son of champion The Louisiana Cartel for owner's RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody. Bred by Weetona Stanley, The Prize Ferrarri is out of Ferrarri Fast Prize by Mr Jess Perry.

The Prize Ferrarri is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Ferrari James, Grade 2-placed V Power and Grade 1-placed Ferrari GT. The second dam is the Heritage Place Futurity winner and grade 1 producer Fast First Prize by Heza Fast Man.

Pattys Saint finishing second to fastest qualifier The Prize Cartel and managed to hold onto the second fastest qualifying time of :15.772 seconds for owner-breeder Robert Harrison and trainer Heath Hillman. Jesus Virgen rode the daughter of Jess Got Easier out of Sp Saint Patty.

Hanson and Canales also joined forces in the third trial with Jess Dressed In Blue to get the fourth fastest time of :15.818 seconds, an 89 speed index. Also owned by RTM Stables, Robin Dunn, Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody, the son of multiple stakes sire Jess Louisiana Blue broke his maiden in second career start.

The Oklahoma-bred out of Sonny D by Tempting Dash sold for $31,000 in the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale. Flag Ranch, LLC bred the half-brother to Heritage Place Derby(G2) runner-up Jesse D.

Trainer Jay Pitcher saddled Fortunes Wild Blood to a three-quarter-length win in the second trial to get the third fastest time of :15.783 seconds, a 90 speed index. Nakia Ramirez rode the son of leading second-crop sire Apollitical Blood for owners Kelly and Kyle Cook.

Riley Blanchet bred the brown gelding in Louisiana from the Carters Cartel mare Cartels Fortune. It was the first win three starts for the $13,500 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Pocatello Downs to vie for the winner's share of the $25,000-est. purse on Wednesday, June 24th.
