EVANSTON, WY—JULY 12, 2020— Giorgina held off Loco Ocho to win the $10,000 Raysha's Run - Racing For A Cure Stakes (not black type) Sunday at Wyoming Downs. Cd Proud Flying D Kas was a neck back in the blanket-finish to get third.
Ridden by jockey Uriel Dominguez, Giorgina went wire-to-wire while completing the 350 yards in :17.480 seconds, equaling a 99 speed index with a 5 mph crosswind. It was the ninth career win in 21 starts for the 6-year-old daughter of Grade 1 winner Giorgino.
Racing for owner Miguel Zavala, the sorrel mare earned $6,000 to boost her earnings mark to just over $40,000. Adrian Zavala trains the Utah homebred out of Miss Flying Jessie by Fly Jess Fly.
Stakes winner Loco Ocho picked up $2,000 for her second-place effort. Garth Blattner trains the Idaho homebred daughter of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel for owner-breeders Les and Darla Barlow. Jesus Valenzuela had the riding call aboard the 4-year-old from the First Wrangler mare Sign Of Pride. She has won six of 14 races and earned $30,366.
Daniel and Carol Lee own third-place finisher Cd Proud Flyin D Kas, a Wyoming-bred daughter of View Me Flying from the Super de Easy mare Jps Super de Lizzie. Diana Garfias trains with Jesus Canales getting the riding call. She picked up $1,000 for the effort to bring her earnings total to $21,355. Jeff and Leslie Makovy is the breeder.
Dh Renaes Dynasty, Locomotion Girl, One Dashing Dream, Endless Enchantment, Bp Southern Suzie, Miss Hannah B and Black Mass completed the field.
