ROCK SPRINGS, WY—AUGUST 29, 2020—Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate Volcums Hot Candy raced to her second consecutive win on Saturday when she posted the fastest qualifying time for the WHR Open Futurity at Sweetwater Downs.

Ridden by jockey Tyson Lusk, Volcums Hot Candy completed the 350 yard task in :17.667 seconds, equaling a 93 speed index with a 6 mph tailwind. Trainer Jordan Hadley conditions the daughter of All American Futurity(G1) sire Volcom for Buckway Ranch LLC.

Buckway purchased the bay filly for $27,000 at the 2019 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. Volcums Hot candy broke her maiden in her last start at Wyoming Downs, August 16th. PV Quarter Horses Farm LLC bred the filly in Oklahoma from the Red Storm Cat mare Candys Cartels Cat.

Coming off third-place effort in the Utah Bred Futurity July 25th, Executive Temptation finished a neck off the fastest qualifier to land the second fastest time of :17.705 seconds, a 92 speed index.

Riley Moosman saddled the daughter of champion/champion sire Tempting Dash for owner Keith Nellesen. Jesus Valenzuela had the riding call aboard the bay filly out of Executive Looks by Executive Menace. A half-sister to champion Kvn Corona, Executive Temptation has won or placed in four of five starts and earned $14,386.
