Fancy Pant Returns To Win North Dakota Bred Grassroots Derby

BELCOURT, ND—AUGUST 30, 2020—Fastest qualifier Fancy Pant, an APHA daughter of the thoroughbred stallion Daimon's Tale, returned Sunday to defeat Vonettas Dashin Jess by three-quarters in the $7,450 North Dakota Bred Grassroots Derby (not black type).

Under jockey Zachary Bacon, Fancy Pant raced to his third consecutive win at Chippewa Downs while completing the 350 yards in :18.360 seconds, equaling an 85 speed index with an.5 mph tailwind on a muddy racing surface.

Trainer Jeff Charbonneau saddled Fancy Pant to her seventh career win for owner-breeder Kenneth D. Groce. Bred from the Special Eliminator mare Treasured Penny, Fancy Pant has compiled a (9) 7-0-2 record and earned $13,612.

Vonettas Dashin Jess was disqualified and placed last for interference, moving Up In The Clouds to second-placed.

The daughter of Corona Up is owned by Tyrell Moody and is trained by Cole Wilson. Jeramie Fennell rode filly out of Dashing Clouds by Dashin Bye. Steve Leonard and Cole Wilson bred the $10,609 earner.

A half-length back in third was John Bubel's homebred Go Mans Corona, a son of Corona B from the Going Memories mare Memories Jet. Kolton Prouty had the riding call for trainer Robert Herman, Sr . The chestnut gelding has earned $6,609.

Completing the official order of finish were Ima Mitey Corona, Dis Girls Free, Jennas First Corona, Sucha Dash Of Corona and Vonettas Dashin Jess.
