ROCK SPRINGS, WY—AUGUST 29, 2020—Drop A Corona, under jockey Been Cordarelton, went wire-to-wire in a half-length win over Tough But Nice (TB) in the $11,600 Green River Stakes (not blacktype) Sunday at Sweetwater Downs.
Off as the heavy post time favorite, Drop A Corona didn't disappoint while completing the ss70 yards in :40,726 seconds, equaling a 94 speed index with a. 30 mph tailwind.
Owned-trained and bred by Chris Mitchell, the son of Eye On Corona, picked up $5,800 to brin his earnings mark to $27,923. Out of the Daunting Presence mare Wnv Virus Detected, he has won five of 29 starts.
Runner-up Tough But Nice (TB) was a game second for owner Steven Porter and trainer Lynn Simpson. Nakia Ramirez rode the son of Good Journey from the Vindication mare Try To Be Nice. He has earned more than $233,000.
American Hat, a son of Favorite Cartel, was 1- ˝ lengths back to pick up $1,160 for third. Jordan Handley trains for owner Buckway Ranch LLC. Steve Burns DVM bred he 5-year-old from the Strawfly Special mare Hat D Strawfly.
Killer Leaving You, BV Imgunabesomebody, Grey Tsunami and Cruz'n Jack completed the field.
