ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 5, 2020—Brash And Sassy got her second consecutive derby win on Saturday when she defeated stable-mate Gotta Lotta Papa by half-a-length in the $39,260 Rock Spring Wyoming Bred Futurity at Sweetwater Downs.
Under jockey Oscar Cervantes, Brash And Sassy rolled over the 350 yards in :17.602 seconds, equaling a 95 speed index with a 5 mph tailwind.
Trainer Riley Moosman saddled the Wyoming-bred daughter of third-crop sire Conn Creek for owner Dustin Stanger. Brash And Sassy picked up $13,741 for the win to boost her bankroll to $43,084.
Bred by Dan and Patricia Baker, from the Proudest Effort mare Lp Sure And Proud, the sorrel filly has won seven of 11 career starts. Two races back she won the KC Carden Wyoming Bred Derby at Wyoming Downs. Runner-up Gotta Lotta Papa, also trained by Moosman, earned $6,282 for owners Ron Moosman and Kathy Moosman. Bryce Moosman bred the daughter of multiple stakes sire Pappasito from the Maknmoves mare Lotta Kat Moves. Jesus Valenzuela rode the stakes winner of $50,597.
Racing for owner-trainer and breeder Uriel Dominguez, Sr., Ud Plain Jane finished half-a-length back to earn $3,925 for third. Uriel Dominguez rode the daughter of leading third-crop sire Coronado Cartel out of the Tac It Like A Man mare Bvlgari B.
