Dexxter Scores Third Grade 1 Win In $125,000 All American QH Gold Cup

RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—SEPTEMBER 6, 2020—Dexxter, a son of leading sire Corona Cartel, kept his 2020 record a perfect 3-for-3 Sunday when he defeated Danjer by a neck in the $125,000 All American Gold Cup(G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

It was third consecutive Grade 1 win for the Monty Arrossa trained 4-year-old who was making his first start since winning the Debbie Schauf Remington Park Invitational Championship Stakes(G1) at Remington Park on May 30. Prior to that he won the Leo Stakes(G1) in his 2020 season debut May 2.

"He’s such a nice horse. Just so professional. He makes me look like I know what I’m doing," said champion jockey James Flores after the win. "He’s been here all summer and training really hard. Sometimes it feels like he wants to train me in the mornings. He wants to run off with me around the race track. He was so fresh and ready. I want to thank trainer Monty Arrossa for giving me the opportunity to ride him."

Racing for owners Dunn Ranch and Valeriano Racing Stables LLC, Dexxter has compiled a (18) 8-3-1 record and today's $55,118 Gold Cup winners' purse brings his career mark to $460,012.

Bred in Utah by McColee Land & Livestock LLC, from the Tres Seis mare Tres Of Linda, Dexxter has been a solid stakes horse his entire career. Racing exclusive at Los Alamitos Race Course at 2 and 3, he kicked off his 4-year-old campaign in Oklahoma. He made his first Ruidoso start today.

Dexxter was second in the Beg Lew Handicap, Dillingham Handicap and third in the Southern California Derby(G2) as well as a finalist in the Ed Burke Million Futurity(G1), Los Alamtios Two Million Futurity(G1), Los Alamitos Super Derby(G1) and El Primero Del Ano Derby(G3).

Also a solid stakes horse his entire career, Gold Cup runner-up Danjer picked up $23,622 for second. The graded stakes winning son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty races for the partnership of Dean Frey, Downtime Enterprises LLC and Billy G. Smith. Also trained and bred by Frey, Danjer is out of the Take Off Jess mare Shez Jess Toxic. The eight-time winner has earned $586,955.

Another Grade 1 winner, Valiant Tiberias, finished half-a-length back for owners Sergio Holguin, Clifton Nielsen and Felix Rodriguez. Trainer Westley Giles named jockey Alan Hernandez to ride the Valiant Hero 4-year-old out from the Feature Mr Jess mare American Feature. Bred in Oklahoma by Reliance Ranches LLC, Valiant Tiberias has earned $455,173.

Completing the All American Gold Cup field were No Mires A La Luna, Sc Money Maker, Hes Limitless, Apocalyptical Jess and Up And Coming.

On Monday, the racing season at Ruidoso Downs concludes with the running of the $3 Million GI All American Futurity, the world’s richest Quarter Horse race, the $200,000 All American Juvenile, and the $20,000 Governor’s Handicap.

The Cowboy Channel will broadcast the All American Futurity and the All American Juvenile live from Ruidoso Downs from 4:00-5:30 PM MDT. Post time for the All American Futurity is 5:12 PM. Post time on Monday is 1:00 PM.
