Pattys Saint Springs the Upset in WHR Open Futurity at Sweetwater Downs

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 12, 2020—At odds of 22-1, Pattys Saint and Jose Figueroa pulled a massive upset in the $42,500 WHR Open Futurity in Rock Springs on Saturday afternoon.

Pattys Saint ($47.20) broke first and extended her lead in the 350-yard race to defeat Well Kiss My Wagon by a half-length. The final time was :17.757 for a 90 speed index.

Heath Hillman trains the Idaho-bred filly for owner and breeder Robert Harrison. She is by Jess Got Easier, out of the Saint Shackleton mare Sp Saint Patty.

Pattys Saint was the eighth fastest qualifier after running second to Well Kiss My Wagon in their trial from August 29. She debuted at Pocatello, where she qualified to the Crush the Curve Futurity before winning the Oneida County Futurity on August 9.

Well Kiss My Wagon, the third fastest qualifier, finished second in her stakes debut with Never Marin aboard. Jordan Hadley trains the Wagons West filly for owner Marvin Falls Down, Jr.

Well Kiss My Wagon was bred in Utah by Peterson Stallion Farm, LLC, out of the No Secrets Here mare Dicey Kiss. She debuted at Louisiana Downs before breaking her maiden at Wyoming Downs and winning her trail to the WHR Open Futurity.

Second fastest qualifier Executive Temptation ran well to be up for third under Jesus Valenzuela. Executive Temptation is owned by Keith Nellesen and trained by Riley Moosman.

The Tempting Dash filly was bred by McColee Land and Livestock LLC, out of the multiple graded stakes winning mare Executive Looks, by Executive Menace. She was second in her trial behind fastest qualifier Volcums Hot Candy. Prior to her trial, she won her trial for the Hadley/Giles Futurity at Weber in May and finished fourth in the final, then won her trial for the Utah Bred Futurity, in which she ran third.

Completing the field were Volcums Hot Candy, Cady Shack Creek, Wildroses 101, Secret Dorothy, Zoomin Moonflash and Hadleys Glock. Delila Rose was scratched.
