Fastest Qualifier Bad Monkey Heads The Field In The Dash For Cash Futurity Final September 27
Bad Monkey, under jockey Benito Baca, setting the fastest qualifying time from 11 trials contested Sunday night at Lone Star Park for the $366,035 Dash For Cash Futurity(G2).

Fastest Qualifier Bad Monkey Heads The Field In The Dash For Cash Futurity Final September 27

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 13, 2020)—Eleven races of the scheduled 12-race card Sunday night at Lone Star Park were trials to decide the field for the Grade 2, $364,095 Dash For Cash Futurity. The futurity final will be run Saturday, September 27.

The fastest qualifying time was scored by Owner/trainer Dean R. Frey's Bad Monkey. With Benito Baca in the irons, the grey gelding posted :19.681 for the 400-yard distance in the first trial (race 2) of the night. Bad Monkey is by multiple stakes sire Capo de Capi and out of a the Mr Eye Opener mare Girls Eye Too.

The lightly raced Pyc Painted Streaker pushed his perfect record to 3-for-3 after posting a head win over fellow qualifier Fear The Dragon in the third trial (race 4) for Valerie Moya. Under jockey Jose Martinez the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon stopped the timer in :19.743 seconds to secure the second fastest time.

Trainer Angel Sanchez saddled the bay gelding who entered the Dash For Cash trials off a win in the GCFA July Firecracker Futurity two months back. Gerardo Luna bred Pyc Painted Streaker in Texas from the Streakin Sixes mare Miss Kips Streakin.

Sanchez also saddled Onemoreandiamgone V to a neck win over Eyema Eagle in the eighth trial (race 7) to secure the third-fastest clocking of :19.746 seconds. Jose Martinez had the riding call for owner Jody Garcia.

Garcia paid $17,000 for the Jess Lipps gelding at the 2019 Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. Bred by Valeriano Racing Stables, from the First Down Dash mare Velvette, Onemoreandiamgone V has won or placed in all five starts this season and earned $25,150.

There was a tie for the tenth fastest qualifier with a time of :19.903 between Quick Return, trained by Alonso Neri and One Incredible Hock trained by Adrian Huitron, so they had to shake to see which horse would get the spot.

One Incredible Hock won the shake and will run in the final.
