Eyesa Special Digger Leads Broken Bones Cattle Company Tri-Fecta in Dan Lockie Derby Final

MILES CITY, MT—MAY 16, 2021—Second fastest qualifier Eyesa Special Digger rose to the occasion Sunday when he defeated stablemates Eyesa Special Hachet and Eyesa Special Rebel in the $15,000 Dan Lockie Derby at Miles City.

Under jockey David Jimenez, Eyesa Special Digger posted a three-quarter length win while completing the 300 yards in :15.872 seconds, an 89-speed index. Conditioned by trainer Jesse Villegas, the Broken Bones Cattle Co. owned-and bred son of Eyesa Special Slim earned $7,500 for the effort.

Out of the First N Six mare Lil Shameless Angel, Eyesa Special Digger ran his record to (7) 2-3-1 and increased his earnings mark to $20,835. Eyesa Special Digger was third in the Rock Spring-Wyoming Bred Futurity last season.

Also trained by Villegas, and another homebred for Broken Bones Cattle Co., Eyesa Special Hachet earned $3,450 for second. Rick Oliver had the riding call aboard the Wyoming-bred son of Eyesa Special Slim from the Rolls Of Romance mare Streaking Ruby Red. A winner of two of four starts, the lightly raced gelding has earned $10,280.

Villegas named Shance Birdrattler to ride third-place finisher Eyesa Special Rebel for Broken Bones Cattle Co. The Eyesa Special Slim filly is out of Streakin Camilla by First N Six. She earned $1,950 to more than double her earnings to $3,370.

Eyesa Special Beddy, also owned-and-bred by Broken Bones Cattle Company finished fourth. Fastest qualifier There He Is Gone was fifth, followed by Fifty Delite, Big Sizter and A Dan D completed the field.
