BELCOURT, ND—JUNE 20, 2021—Thiseagle Has Landed scored his second consecutive win on Sunday after rolling to a 1-¾ length win in the $20,000 Northern Plains Quarter Horse Futurity at Chippewa Downs.
Under jockey Evan Herman, Thiseagle Has Landed completed the 350 yards in :18.312 seconds, into a 15 mph crosswind, to pocket the winner's share of the purse valued at $10,000.
Trainer Cole Wilson saddled the son of second-crop sire Moonin The Eagle for owners Robert Wilson and Jason Smith. A winner of three of four starts this season, Thiseagle Has Landed kicked off his career at Remington Park while breaking his maiden in a $20,000 Claiming race for maiden 2-year-olds. He also won an allowance at Chippewa on June 6th.
Bred in Oklahoma by Womack/Cavendar Farms, from the Mr Eye Opener mare Fantastic Six, Thiseagle Has Landed's only off the board performance was a troubled effort in a Heritage Place Futurity trials on May 8th. He has earned $21,185.
In just his second start, John Bubel's homebred Jess Perrys Gol earned $4,600 for second. Jamie Herman named Joel Estrada to ride the son of Dashing Jess Perry from the Gol mare Shez A Gol Mind. The North Dakota-bred gelding was also second to Thiseagle Has Landed in the aforementioned June 6th allowance at Chippewa.
Another Bubel owned-and-bred Dashing Jess Perry 2-year-old, Shesa Royal Jess, finished two-lengths back to get third. Robert Lee Herman trains the sorrel filly out of Tempered Reb by Sixes Royal. Ridden by Brian Beetem, Shesa Royal Jess earned $2,600 for the effort.
Corona For An Eagle, Shesa Dashin Jess and Dancing Hula completed the field.
