Tell Foose Fastest Qualifiers For Grants Pass' Autumn Derby

GRANTS PASS, OR—SEPTEMBER 25, 2021—Tell Foose picked up right where he left off last summer—in the Grants Pass Downs winner's circle. The son of champion sire Foose won his last start there, an allowance on June 22nd.

Today he defeated Skyywalker by three-quarters of length in the second of three trials for the $25,0000 Autumn Derby, posting the top qualifying time. Ridden by jockey Martin Osuna, the California bred gelding completed the 400 yards in :19.680 seconds, equaling a 104 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind.

Trainer Hector Magallanes saddled Tell Foose to his third career win for owner Ruben Magallanes. Bred by Martha Wells, from the Chicks Beduino mare Chicks Tell, Tell Foose has earned $15,933.

Last the year Tell Foose was running for a $12,500 tag at Los Alamitos Race Course. He has now won two consecutive races will compete in the 400 yard $25,000 Autumn Derby, with the other nine qualifiers from today's trials, on Monday, October 11th.

Multiple stakes qualifier Skyywalker held on for the second fastest time of :19.802 seconds, a 101 speed index. Bumped at the start under jockey Cesar Moreno, Skyywalker races for owner-breeder Edwin Rosales. Jose Gomez trains the son of Fly Chisholm Fly form the Fastnfierce mare La Jackye. He was earned $18,052.

The top four qualifiers came out of the second trial. Other trial winners were 5th fastest Not Another Lover, by Sixthirteen(TB) and 7th fastest Lionized, by Bodacious Dash.
