Night Fishn(#2) holds off Streakinlilwagon (#5) in the $15,212(US) QROOI Sprint Series 3 at Ajax Downs today.

AJAX, ONT–AUGUST 10, 2022–Multiple stakes winner Night Fishn went wire-to-wire to defeat Streakinlilwagon by a head in the $15,212(US) QROOI Sprint Series 3 at Ajax Downs today.  Carneros who was hoping for a sweep after winning the first two division was a neck back in the blanket finish to get third.

Jockey Ramiro Castillo piloted Night Fishn to a :13.155 clocking for the 250 yards, equaling a 101 speed index with a 15mph tailwind. It was the ninth career win for the son of multiple stakes sire Sugarman Perry.

"Today she was very quiet, very focussed," said Castillo. "In the gate, she just waited nicely for the start."

Trainer Dan Giles sent the 8-year-old mare for owner-breeder Mary Schrama. The Ontario bred, from the Fishes Dash mare Fisher Lines, picked up $6,474(US) for her effort to bring her lifetime earnings total to $111,907.

Schrama and Giles do all the work with their small stable themselves and said their mare loves her job.

"She's pretty easy to keep fit, you don't have to ride her too often," said Schrama. "She's the most amazing mare, we take very good care of her."

Also a multiple stakes winner Streakinlilwagon earned $3,237(US) for fishing second. Jason Pascoe saddled the daughter of multiple stakes sire Fast Prize Jordan for owner-breeder GFR Equine Services. Jockey Ismael Mosqueira had the riding call on the Oklahoma bred earner of $156,132.

Third-place finisher Carneros is also from the Pascoe barn and races for owner Milena Kwiecien. Brian Bell rode the Oklahoma-bred son of two-time champion Prospect To The Top out of the Valiant Hero mare Cakebread And Thou. Bred by Stonechase Stables LLC, Carneros picked up $1,618(US) to bring his earnings total to $127,982.

Bodhi, Maryland Magic, Zoxtobeyou and Memory Of Griffin completed the field.
