Our Secret Habit Finishes Best In $92,830 Mile High Futurity

AURORA, CO—OCTOBER 4, 2022—Sixth fastest qualifier Our Secret Habit finished best today to defeat Elunicodecandy by half-a-length in the In $92,830 Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park. Fastest qualifier Fearless Fortitude was another half-length back to take third.

Our Secret Habit drifted out from the inside rail under champion jockey James Flores while completing the 400 yards in :19.847 seconds, a 102 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. It was the second win five career starts for the son of Hez Our Secret who broke his maiden in the September 18 trials.

Alexander Orozco trains the Oklahoma-bred gelding for owner Rancho Garambuyo. Reliance Ranches LLC bred Our Secret Habit from the Corona Cartel mare Corona Habit. A $13,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, he picked up $37,132 today to boost his bankroll to $44,339.

Runner-up Elunicodecandy earned $18,566 for finishing second. Still a maiden after four starts the son of multiple stakes sire Send A Candy Guy races for owner Sergio Lozano and trainer Joel Marquez. Hugo Herrera had the riding call aboard the Oklahoma-bred out of FIrstlady To Themoon by First Moonflash. Bred by Isidro Aldana Elunicodecandy was also third in the Rocky Mountain Futurity and has earnings of $29,574.

Cherry Creek Futurity winner Fearless Fortitude was in tight and bumped early under jockey Martin Lazalde but still managed to finish third for owner Barron Racing LLC. Jose Barron conditions the $14,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate who was also second in the Rocky Mountain Futurity in July.  He as banked $70,257 off a (6) 2-3-1 record. Vaughn. Our Secret Habit returned $13.80 to win, $8.40 to place and $4.80 to show.

Completing the Mile High Futurity field were Okey Prissy Mountain, Country Rocket Foose, Beduino Kicker, Caddo Lights, Kiss For Money, Dynastys Flare and Bp Miss Moonin.

Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colorado, began its live race meet on Sunday, July 3rd and will continue through Tuesday, October 4. Race days for the Colorado meet are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with a 1:00 pm (MDT) pastime.
