AURORA, CO–OCTOBER 4, 2022–Indeed outran the competition Tuesday afternoon at Arapahoe park in the $22,950 Rocky Mountain Championship Stakes.

Ridden by Cordarelton Benn, Indeed broke best from the gates and led the pack wire-to-wire crossing the finish line first only by a head over Kooler Wagon. Benn and Indeed clocked a 101 speed index in :19.864 seconds on the 400-yard straightaway. The close finish with 9-4 odds at the post paid $8.60 on the win.

The Rocky Mountain Championship is the first stakes win for Indeed, who has lit the board 13 out of 15 starts with 4 career wins. Jose Chavez saddled the four-year-old son of Wagon Tales for owner Jose Cantaneda and the $13,770 winner’s share of the purse ups his lifetime earnings to $64,529.

Bred by Mr. and Mrs. L. Judd Morse of Oklahoma, Indeed’s dam is Dancing Iam by Apollo (TB) and is out of a half-sister to the grandam of champion Check N Fetch.

Kooler Wagon, with Jose Lopez in the irons, broke well and maintained her second place position from gate-to-wire. Trained by Uriel Delgado, the five-year-old daughter of Desiro has six career wins with $54,489 in the bank, including the American Flyer Stakes in September.

Breeders Thomas Bradbury and Vaughn Cook sold Kooler Wagon to her current owner Alma Olivas for $7,200 in the 2018 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale. Her dam is the Pyc Paint Your Wagon stakes-placed mare Beaus Wagon, who is a 3/4-sister to the grandam of two-time AQHA champion and millionaire Empressum.

Coming in third with Daniel Valles at the reigns was This Parties Hoppin. The post-time favorite has three career stakes wins, with two from this year, including the Leo Beau Dash Stakes and Dolls Prodigy Stakes at Arapahoe. The four-year-old son of Five Bar Cartel has earned $79,949 and is conditioned by Jose Nava Arjon.

This Parties Hoppin’s dam is the Check Him Out mare Bsimjumpn, who is out of a half-sister to champion Carters Cartel. Bred by Jose Antonio Flores, the Colorado bred gelding is owned by Vences Racing.
