Fast Moonflash Draws Off In First Career Win, Best In $41,000 Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes Saturday

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 3, 2022—Under jockey Mark Jasso, Fast Moonflash (6-1) cleared the field early before drawing off to get her first career win by three-quarters in Saturday's $41,000 Turf Paradise Maiden Stakes (not black type) at Turf Paradise Racetrack.

Conditioned by trainer Ivan Tafoya the California bred daughter of champion sire First Moonflash entered the final off a second-place effort in the November 9 trials when he posted the eighth fastest qualifying time. Fast Moonflash competed the 350 yards in :17.674 seconds, a 97 speed index on a fast track under rainy skies.

Adrian Gonzalez and Fernando Garcia paid $7,000 for the sorrel filly at 2020 Los Alamitos Mixed Equine Sale.  Silver Racing Farm LLC bred Fast Moonflash from the Corona Cartel ame Coronas Fast Honey. The $24,149 winner's purse boosted her bankroll to 35,129 from six lifetime starts.

Up To Win, under jockey Kevin Carbajal, finished second to earn $7,790 for owner Juan Torres-Casas. Alex Torres-Casas trains the California-bred daughter of multiple stakes sire Kiddy Up from the A Regal Choice mare Ynot Win. Edward C. Allred is bred the $11,180 earner.

The betting public's second-choice Callmetank finished a half-a-length back to earn $3,895 for third. Rigoberto Guillen trains the Texas-bred son of multiple stakes sire High Rate Of Return for owner Jesus Acosta. Kirk Goodfellow bred the brown gelding from the FDD Dynasty mare Doli. Martin Osuna had the riding call aboard the $17,482 earner.

Fayavorita, Lady Quick Cartel, One Mystery Lover V, Ap Signature Trick, Fiesty Six, Lajollas Legacy and Cartels Good Candy completed the field. Fastest qualifier Pretty Lethal Eagle was scratched.
