Lake Havasu Draws Off In $73,650 AQRA Turf Paradise Open Quarter Horse Futurity Thursday

PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 8, 2022—Second fastest qualifier Lake Havasu drew off to defeat a field of nine-other two-year-old's by one-length in the $73,650 AQRA Turf Paradise Open Quarter Horse Futurity Thursday afternoon.

Under jockey Omar Iturralde, Lake Havasu completed the 350 yards in :17.636 seconds, equaling a 98 speed index into a 4 mph crosswind. It was the fourth career win in eight starts for the son of multiple stakes sire Separate Interest. He earned $36,825 for the effort.

Owner-trainer Osman Iturralde conditions the California-bred stakes winner of $100,414. Iturralde paid $10,500 for the California-bred at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale.  From the Foose mare No Arizona, Lake Havasu was also second in the West Texas Juvenile and third in the La Fiesta Futurity earlier this year. John Deere Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge winner The Rev Rocker finished second for owner LG Racing, LLC. Juvencio Canales trains the son of leading second-crop sire A Revenant from the First Moonflash mare Mitey Moon.

Bred in New Mexico by Debra Laney, the $44,000 Ruidoso Select Yearlng Sale graduate picked up $14,730 to bring his bankroll total to $42,178.  Jesus Canales rode The Rev Rocker.

Bumped at the start, fastest qualifier One Wild Cartel finished a head back to earn $7,365 for third. Trainer Ernesto Gonzalez named jockey Mark Jasso to ride the stakes winning son of Five Bar Cartel.

Bred in Louisiana by Wild N Fast Racing LLC, One Wild Card carried three-race win streak in to the futurity final that included the Arizona Downs Futurity on September 3.  Out of the Tac It Like A Man mare Wild N Fast, One Wild Cartel has banked $56,559 this year.

Parker Dam, Dangerous Fella, Gemologist, Mr Snootie Cartel, Baby I Du, Bubba Lew and One Fabulous Dog completed the field.
