Travis Got Game Held On For The Win In Friday Night’s Feature Allowance Race at Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA–FEBRUARY 3, 2023Three-time winner Travis Got Game won the first out of his four-year-old campaign in Friday night’s $11,020 Feature Allowance at Louisiana Downs.

Under the guidance of Ubaldo Luna, Travis Got Game crossed the finish line a neck ahead of the pack in :46.925 seconds, clocking an 84 speed index. The duo broke from the one hole in first place and kept pace on the inside with runner up Bt Gameboy and his jockey Rene Hernandez, who rallied along the rail and finished 1 3/4-lengths to the good of Brookes Brioni, ridden by Claudio Aguilar.

With 9/4 odds at the post, Travis Got Game’s victory was a slight upset in the 870-yard allowance race paying $8.60 to win on a $2.00 bet.

Conditioned by Guillermo Martinez, Travis Got Game’s $7,020 share of the winner's purse ups his bankroll to $40,927 for owner Luis R. Martinez. The four-year-old gelding by Jess Louisiana Blue was purchased by Martinez in the 2020 LQHBA Yearling Sale for $9,000.

Bred by Dale A. Bertucci, Travis Got Game is out of the Streakin La Jolla daughter Doyoulikemenow, who is a full sister to Grade 2 Remington Derby winner Real Visions.

Trained by Saul Ramirez, Jr., Bt Gameboy placed second for owner/breeder Robert Touchet of Louisiana. The multiple winning son by Game Patriot has $26,644 in lifetime earnings. The four-year-old gelding's dam is the Toast To Dash mare Wakeup To Toast, who is out of a half-sister to the dam of champion Sir Alibi.

Coming in third was post-time favorite Brookes Brioni, who is owned by Brian Peterson, Scott Dean and Lynda Eria Velasco. The multiple winning four-year-old gelding son of One Famous Brioni placed fifth in the 2022 Sam Houston Derby Challenge. Bred by Harold Watkins of Texas, Brookes Brioni is out of Brookes Racey Macey by Ronas Rusty.

The remaining order of finish is Lz King Of The Kings, Wanna B A Star, Slew Dance and The Dream.
