GREAT FALLS, MT–JULY 27, 2025–Eg Secret captured his first stakes win on Sunday in the $8,700 Charlie R’s Quarter Horse Derby (not black type) at Great Falls, blitzing the 300-yard distance in 15.443 seconds to post a 102 speed index.

Owned by RTM Stables LLC, Kevin Dunn, and Bryon Goody, Eg Secret was sharp from the gate under jockey Corrine Andros and never looked back, holding firm to win by a head.

The gray gelding is trained by Mark Hanson and was bred in Texas by Johnny Trotter.

By Hez Our Secret, Eg Secret is out of Eye of Glory, a daughter of Mr Eye Opener. He was purchased for $25,000 at the 2023 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

This was Eg Secret’s third win from nine career starts, boosting his earnings to $29,144. Previously, he was runner-up in both the Hadley/Giles Futurity and Bitterroot Juvenile Invitational as a 2-year-old.

Flippinfast, a seasoned chestnut gelding with 16 career starts, rallied gamely but came up just short, finishing second with a time of 15.584 seconds and a 96 speed index. Owned by his breeder Neale Edwards of New Mexico, the son of Rite Favorite is out of Daddies Darlin, by Big Daddy Cartel

Flippinfast is trained by Kayla Warren and ridden by Jarred Journet. This spring, he won the Dan Lockie Derby Consolation and was a multiple stakes performer in his juvenile campaign.

Third went to the post-time favorite Y O At A Glance, who closed strongly to finish 1¼ lengths behind the top pair in 15.598 seconds with a 96 speed index. The Wyoming-bred gray gelding is owned and bred by Gerald F. Kaul and trained by Tryston Matt.

Ruben Chavez rode the son of Fiftyshadezofgrey. Y O At A Glance is out of Barely a Secret, by Brindis Por Cayenne. The third-place finish increased his lifetime earnings to $33,478 from four wins and multiple stakes placings, including a fifth-place finish just one week ago in the KC Carden Accredited Wyoming Bred Derby.

The remaining order of finish was: Dash O Flash, Cd Draco, Cd Rockin Da Cash, and Charlies Return.
