Meghans Feature Sign Tops John Deere Idaho Juvenile Trials

Meghans Feature Sign Tops John Deere Idaho Juvenile Trials

BLACKFOOT, ID—SEPTEMBER 1, 2019—Meghans Feature Sign defeated Sables Dashin by head in the first of three trials at the Eastern Idaho Fair Sunday, setting the top qualifying mark of :17.598 seconds, a 99 speed index, for the John Deere Idaho Juvenile Challenge.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Pocatello Downs on Sunday, September 15th to vie for the winner's share of a $27,500-added purse as well as earn a starting spot in the $125,000-est. John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2) at The Downs at Albuquerque October 27.

Jockey Eric Ayala had the riding call aboard Meghans Feature Sign for trainer Monty Arrosa, who saddled three qualifiers to the Juvenile. Merlin Sharp owns the daughter of third-crop sire Second Painted Sign from the Feature Mr Jess mare PT Feature Dash. A.C. Taylor is the breeder.

Trainer Mark Hanson saddled the first of five Juvenile finalists when Brilliant Cut Cartel, under jockey Jesus Canales, won the second trial by three-quarters in the second fastest time of :17.603 seconds, also a 99 speed index.

Third in the Bitterroot Futurity in July, Brilliant Cut Cartel races for RTM Stables, Robin Dunn and Kevin Dunn. Monty McNair bred the Coronado Cartel gelding in Oklahoma from the Azoom mare Azoom Diamond.
