Dr Tool Morning-Line Favorite In Adequan Pocatello Derby Challenge

POCATELLO, ID—JUNE 10, 2020-Coming off a win in the Weber Downs Derby Challenge in his last start Dr Tool has been installed as the 8-5 morning line favorite for the $39,740 Adequan® Pocatello Derby Challenge on Wednesday at Pocatello Downs.

The win also includes a berth for the $150,000-est. Adequan Derby® Challenge Championship(G3) on October 24th during the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Owned-and-trained by Luis Gonzalez, Dr Tool puts a two-race win streak on the line in Wednesday's 440 yard event. Jockey Jesus Valenzuela will ride the son a leading second-crop sire Kiss My Hocks from post position 9. Bred in Texas by Andy Caulo, Dr Tool has compiled a (9) 2-2-2 record and banked $59,950.

He has already secured his starting spot in the aforementioned $150,000-est. Adequan Derby® Challenge Championship(G3) when he posted a dominating 1-½ length win in the Adequan Derby® Weber Downs Challenge on May 24th. Dr Tool also finished third in the Downs at Albuquerque La Fiesta Futurity last fall.

Leading trainer Monty Arrossa will saddle Calida (3-1) from post 4 for owner Lex Fabizio. Calida finished second to Dr Tool in the Adequan Derby® Weber Downs Challenge on May 24th, in his last start. Eric Ayala has been named to ride.

Lazy Creek Ranch bred the daughter of world champion sire FDD Dynasty in California from the Sixes Royal mare The Fire Fly. A winner of two of seven career starts Calida had earned $20,654.

Trainer Mark Hanson will send out multiple stakes-placed Brilliant Cut Cartel (7-2) for owners' RTM Stables LLC, Robin Dunn and Kevin Dunn. The son of leading third-crop sire Coronado Cartel was second in the John Deere Pocatello Downs Juvenile Challenge and third in the Bitterroot Futurity at 2.

Bred in Oklahoma by Monty McNair, Brilliant Cut Cartel entered off an allowance win on June 10th at Pocatello Downs. He has compiled a (8) 3-3-1 record and banked $23,196. He is out of the Azoom mare Azoom Diamond.
