Jt Easy Bug Tops Bank of America Pocatello Championship Challenge Trials

POCATELLO, ID—JUNE 10, 2020-Jt Easy Bug, under jockey Dallas Erickson, battled Frog Nation throughout the 440 yards before getting his nose in front at the wire to set the top qualifying time Wednesday evening for the Bank of America Pocatello Championship Challenge at Pocatello Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from two trial races contested Wednesday, will return to Pocatello Downs Friday, July 31st to vie for the winner's share of $40,000 purse and earn a berth to the Grade 1 Bank of America Challenge Championship October 24th at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Racing for Glen and Jill Jamison, Jt East Bug stopped the clock in :21.317 seconds, equaling a 117 speed index, to set the top qualifying mark. Glen also trains the Idaho homebred son of Jess Got Easier out of Miss Perry Bug by Dashing Jess Perry.

The 5-year-old stakes winner has compiled a (25) 11-5-4 record and banked $46,769 in four seasons at the track.

The aforementioned Frog Nation, a 4-year-old son of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, held on for the second fastest time of :21.321, also a 117 speed index. Owned-and-trained by Julio Corral, Frog Nation has won two of 13 career starts and earned $23,201.

Clarence Scharbauer III bred the bay gelding in Texas from the stakes-placed Belong To Me (TB) mare Our Girl Magic. (TB).

Multiple stakes winner A Toast To Brindis defeated Wagonfullofdividends by a nose in the second trial to record the third-fastest time of :21.490, a 113 speed index. Trainer Jesse Villegas conditions the Wyoming homebred for owner-breeder Gerald Kaul.

Nakia Ramirez had the riding assignment aboard the Brindis Por Cayenne gelding out of A Secret Life by Beduino Secret. The 5-yaer-old has compiled a (21) 14-1-3 record and earned $70,129.
