Purty Darn Quick Up in Time in $64,889 John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge

ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 15, 2020—Challenge races continued at Prairie Meadows on Saturday evening with the $64,889 John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile (G3), won by Purty Darn Quick.

Purty Darn Quick ($8.50) won by a head in the 350-yard stake. With Ramiro Garcia aboard, Purty Darn Quick crossed the wire in 17.602 and earned a 95 speed index.

The win also earned Purty Darn Quick a starting spot in the $125,000 John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship (G2) October 24th during the Bank of America Challenge Championship Night at The Downs at Albuquerque.

Trained by John Hammes, Purty Darn Quick is owned by Hammes and the Estate of Thomas Bradbury. Hammes and Bradbury also bred the Jess Louisiana Blue gelding in Oklahoma, out of Now Margaret, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon.

Purty Darn Quick won his trial on July 25 and was the fourth fastest qualifier from three trials that day. He debuted in a trail for the Remington Park Futurity and finished second in a maiden race at Remington before breaking his maiden in the trial at Prairie.

Quorumm and Agustin Silva narrowly missed the win but finished second by a head for trainer Michelle Hurdle and owner J. J. Racing.

Quorumm was bred in Texas by Bobby Cox, by Tres Seis and out of Apolitical Pac, by Apollitical Jess. Quorumm also debuted at Remington and is still a maiden in four career starts. He finished second in his trial as the sixth fastest qualifier.

Jorge Torres and Synergized were up for third. Trained by Stacy Charette-Hill, Synergized is owned by Denis and Julie Schoenhofer. He was bred in Oklahoma by Bobby Cox, by Dominyun and out of Its Corona Thirty, by Tres Seis.

Synergized was also third in his trial, the same trial as Purty Darn Quick, and was the tenth fastest qualifier.

Completing the field were Fdd Princess, Providenz, Signs of a Blue Moon, Patric Dash, Flirtn With Disastur and Cant Deny Her. Not a Secret originally finished fifth but was disqualified and placed tenth.
