OPELOUSAS, LA—NOVEMBER 19, 2019—Graded stakes winners Relentless Dynasty and Expedyte are among the 77 2-year-olds entered in Friday’s 400-yard Evangeline Downs Futurity trials at Evangeline Downs.
Trained by Adrian Huitron for owner Andres Guerra, Relentless Dynasty has earned $216,667 from four starts, and his two wins include a neck victory at odds of 25-1 in the 350-yard, $474,750 TQHA Sale Futurity (RG3) at Retama Park on July 27. The Hes Relentless colt was a $7,500 purchase at last year’s TQHA Yearling Sale.
Relentless Dynasty drew post 8 and will be ridden by Victor Urieta Jr. in the second of nine trials.
Expedyte is a son of Freighttrain B trained by Josue Ponce for owner Raedele Phipps, who purchased the colt for $14,000 at last year’s Heritage Place Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City. Expedyte has won four of five outs, including the 350-yard, $308,335 Firecracker Futurity (G2) at Delta Downs on the Fourth of July, and he has banked $173,963.
Expedyte drew post 7 and will be ridden by Jesse Levario in the third heat.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the December 14, $100,000-added Evangeline Downs Futurity final.
