RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 3, 2020—Fastest qualifiers Elmer and Jettz are among the 10 2-year-olds entered back in Sunday’s 350-yard, $1-million Ruidoso Futurity (G1) at Ruidoso Downs.

The fastest overall qualifier and the fastest qualifier from the first of two days of trials, Elmer is trained by Jose Meraz for owner La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC. The homebred son of champion FDD Dynasty made his career debut with a three-quarter length victory in the third of 14 trials on May 22.

Jettz, under jockey Francisco Calderon, posted thefastest qualifying time on Day-2 of the Ruidoso Futurity(G1) trials.

Elmer drew post 2 and will be ridden by Federico Martinez.

Jettz set the fastest qualifying time on the second day of trials. Trained by John Buchanan for owner Bobby D. Cox, the homebred One Fabulous Eagle gelding broke his maiden with a neck victory in the second of 14 trials on May 23.

Jettz has earned $68,834 from three starts, and he was a finalist in the April 18, 330-yard Remington Park Futurity (RG1) for Oklahoma-breds. Jettz drew post 10 and will be ridden by Francisco Calderon.

Ruidoso Juvenile Stakes

Also on Sunday, a field of 12 2-year-olds -- including two also-eligible entries -- is entered in the 350-yard, $100,000 Ruidoso Juvenile Stakes.

MRB Racing LLC’s Steal The Candy, a bay Jess Good Candy colt trained by Manuel Rodolfo Rodriguez, broke his maiden with a clear 1 1/2-length victory at odds of 34-1 in the 12th of 14 Ruidoso Futurity trials on May 23. Steal The Candy has earned $5,230 from three outs.

Steal The Candy was a $130,000 purchase at last year’s Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. The gelding drew post 5 and will be ridden by Esgar Ramirez.
