ALTOONA, IA—AUGUST 31, 2020—Forty-eight 2-year-olds, headed by stakes winners Purty Darn Quick, Fly Miss Corona Jess, and Entrepenewer, are entered in five 350-yard Valley Junction Futurity trials at Prairie Meadows on Friday.
A homebred son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue owned by the Estate of Thomas D. Bradbury and trainer John Hammes, Purty Darn Quick is coming off of a head victory in the 350-yard, $65,000 John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge on August 15. The gelding drew post 5 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia in the first trial.
Fly Miss Corona Jess is trained by Clint Crawford for owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC. The bay daughter of world champion Apollitical Jess will be making her first start at Prairie Meadows off of a head victory in the 350-yard, $50,000 Gopher State Futurity at Canterbury Park on July 7. The filly drew post 2 and will be ridden by Agustin Silva in the fourth heat.
Entrepenewer will be stretching out in distance off of his neck victory in the July 1, 330-yard Rocky Mountain Futurity at Arapahoe Park. The Dominyun colt drew post 2 and will be ridden by Ramiro Garcia for owner Edwin Castillo and trainer Uriel Delgado in the second trial.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the September 25, $250,000-est. Valley Junction Futurity final.
