JEROME, ID—JUNE 18, 2021—U Need Me, an Oregon-bred son of champion A Revenant and the fastest qualifier, heads a field of eight 2-year-olds entered back in Sunday’s 350-yard, $19,875 Roche Equine Futurity at the Jerome County Fair.
U Need Me is trained by Monty Arrossa for owner Dorian Montero. The gelding has won both of his starts, including second of three trials by 2 3/4 lengths on June 6.
U Need Me drew post 7 and will be ridden by Jose Vasquez.
Also on Sunday, eight sophomores are entered back in the 350-yard, $15,050 Five Livestock Company Rod Mills Derby. Cartels Breakout, a daughter of Agouti owned and trained by Cesar Luna, is the fastest qualifier from two trials contested on June 6.
The 9-5 morning-line favorite, the filly has won two of nine starts and has banked $3,196 while racing exclusively in the Intermountain region, and she was a finalist in the May 21 Gary and Sharilyn Blattner Memorial Derby at Pocatello Downs and two futurities last year.
Cartels Breakout drew post 4 and will be ridden by Jesus Alfandor.
