Impressive Heritage Place September Sale Closes With Records

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—SEPTEMBER 25, 2021—A record breaking edition of the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale closed Saturday evening (Sept. 25) in Oklahoma City with all new benchmarks for average, median and clearance rate.

"The final session finished with an average of $35,432 and 92% sold," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Saturday. "The sale finished with a record average and 94% of the horses marked sold, record numbers for sure."

Heritage Place reported a $33,887 two-day average, a $26,000 median and an RNA rate of 8% that all set records. The gross receipts of $21,348,800 for 630 horses sold was a 60% increase over 2020's gross of $13,307,200 for 551 head.

The sale average bettered last year's $24,151 by 40%, while the median soared 53% over the $17,000 mark set last year.

Cumulatively, 630 horses sold across the two sessions with just 43 horses failing to sell.

Twenty-four horses sold for $100,000 or above, six for $200,000 or more and the high-seller checked in at $450,000.

"We certainly appreciate the breeders, consignors, buyers and everyone’s staff that make the sales a success for everyone," Kidney concluded.

The sale's three high-sellers came in Saturday's closing session.

Simmons Racing (John Simmons) paid $450,000 for the high-seller, Hip 656 Reminder, a daughter of leading sire Favorite Cartel from the Corona Cartel mare Remember Me Rose. Burns Ranch, Agent consigned the full sister to Grade 1 winners Powerful Favorite, Runforyourlife and Cyber Monday.

"Mr Simmons saw so much upside with the filly out of Remember Me Rose," said Ryan Robicheaux of Robicheaux Ranch following the purchase. "She’s going to be a fantastic racing prospect, and then she will be such an addition to Mr Simmons' broodmare band to raise babies from his stallions Tempting Dash and Gold Heart Eagle V."

La Feliz Monta Ranch LLC paid $260,000 for the sale's second high-seller, Hip 575 Politiseis, a brother to Oklahoma Derby winner Politicaly Correct. James Ranch, Agent for Walter R. Dick Harrison consigned the Apollitical Jess colt out of Senorita Tres by Tres Seis.

William E. Smith paid $250,000 for the sale's third high-seller, Hip 506 Political Royalty, a daughter Apollitical Jess from Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Trendi by Stoli. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC consigned the bay filly from the immediate family of former all-time leading money earner and world champion Stolis Winner.

Rachuan Suarez MVZ led all buyers through the two sessions with 23 purchases for gross receipts of $623,500. Paragon Farms LLC paid $615,000 for six head and Simmons Racing (John Simmons) had two purchases for $505,000.

Four consignments grossed over $1 million dollars, led by Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for McColee Land & Livestock, LLC who was the sale's leading consignor and/or agent with 25 head grossing $1,778,000. Bobby D. Cox sold 27 head for $1,439,000, Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent had 35 head for $1,154,000 and Burns Ranch, Agent sold 22 head for $1,137,500.

Apollitical Jess was the leading sale sire (by average with two or more sold) with 28 yearlings averaging $90,786. Walk Thru Fire had three head for $81,667 and Corona Cartel's 19 head averaged $75,000 each.

Champion Kvn Corona was the leading first-crop sale sire (by average with two or more sold) with 21 head averaging $37,881.
