EDMONTON, ALBERTA, CANADA—OCTOBER 20, 2021—Ten 2-year-olds, headed by fastest qualifier Interes Fino, are entered in Saturday’s 400-yard, $85,761(Can) Canada Cup Futurity (RG3) at Century Mile Racetrack.

A gelded son of multiple stakes sire Seperate Interest racing for Charles G. Stojan, Interes Fino has earned $15,206 from five starts, and his record includes a second-place finish, a neck behind winner O First Sweet Heart, in the July 31, 350-yard John Deere Grande Prairie Juvenile Challenge at Evergreen Park.

Interes Fino has won both of his outs at Century Mile, including the first of two Canada Cup Futurity trials on October 8.

Interes Fino was an $18,000 yearling purchase by Stojan at last year’s Los Alamitos Equine Sale in California. The gelding drew post 6 and will be ridden by Ricardo Moreno for trainer William Leech.

Other contenders include Jeffrey R.W. Rath’s Wave Burner, a graded stakes placed Wave Carver gelding trained by Wesley Oulton. Wave Burner has banked $12,870 from seven outs, and his record includes a third-place finish, a half of a length behind winner Destello de Luna, in the September 19, 350-yard Alberta-Bred Futurity (RG3) at Century Mile.

Wave Burner drew post 4 and will be ridden by Silvino Morales.

Also on Saturday, Eyesa Timber is one of 10 sophomores entered back in the 400-yard, $34,021(Can) Canada Cup Derby (R).

A homebred son of leading Canadian sire First Timber, owned and trained by Wesley Oulton, Eyesa Timber is coming off of a second-place finish, a head behind winner Hortons Real Deal, in the 400-yard, $41,000 Alberta-Bred Derby (R) on September 18. Eyesa Timber has banked $79,934 from 13 starts, and his six wins include a clear 1 3/4-length victory in last year’s Canada Cup Futurity (RG3).

Eyesa Timber has won five of his seven races at Century Mile. The gelding drew post 8 and will be ridden by J.B. Botello.
