RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–JUNE 3, 2022–Byron Woodard’s No Mires A La Luna a homebred 6-year-old son of the First To Flash stallion First Moonflash, is the 5-2 morning-line favorite for Sunday’s 400-yard, $30,000 Jess Burner Stakes (RG2) for New Mexico-bred Quarter Horses at Ruidoso Downs.
Trained by Marc Jungers, No Mires A La Luna will be making his first start since February 12, when the bay gelding finished sixth, two lengths behind winner Bigg Dee, in the 350-yard, $100,000 Mesilla Valley Speed Handicap (RG2) at Sunland Park.
No Mires A La Luna won two stakes during the 2021 Ruidoso meet, including the 400-yard, $50,000 Zia Handicap (RG2).
No Mires A La Luna drew the rail post and will be ridden by Noe Garcia Jr.
Brenda G. Martinez-Mendoza’s My Sweety Pie is coming off of a Sunland Park winter meet during which she won two of three starts against allowance company and earned $49,700. The 4-year-old Big Daddy Cartel mare drew post 7 and will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr. for trainer Marco Flores.
