Twelve Trials Set To Golden State Million Futurity On Sunday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 8, 2022— Led by JGARacing Stables, Inc’s Party Politics and Dunn Ranch’s Aint He Tempting, the top two finishers in the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity on June 19, a total of 92 juveniles will be in action in the trials to the Grade 1, $1,087,250 Golden State Million Futurity on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

Twelve trials, each at 400 yards, will be contested on this full night of Quarter Horse racing with the 2-year-olds with the 10 fastest times advancing to the Golden State Million final on Sunday, October 30.

The 12-race program also means that Los Alamitos will offer three Pick Four wagers. The first four races will make up the early Pick Four sequence. Races five through eight will be the middle Pick Four and the final four races (9-12) will be the Late Pick Four sequence.

Every race featuring either a seven or eight horse field. First post for the 12-race program is 6:05 p.m. (PDT).

Party Politics, a gelding by Apollitical Jess out of the graded stakes placed mare Shanachee, gets top billing on the marquee based on his 1/2 length victory over Aint He Tempting in the Ed Burke Million.

Trained by Juan Aleman and ridden by Ramon Sanchez, Party Politics will headline the fourth trial of the night and enters the evening following a preparatory gate work on September 20. The J. Garvan Kelly-bred runner started his career with a daylight maiden win on May 8 before running second to eventual Governor’s Cup Futurity winner Frivolous in the Ed Burke trials.

Sent off at 10-1 in the EdBurke final, Party Politics was fast out the gate, lost the lead to Aint He Tempting for a span before rallying back to win the meet’s first million dollar race.

Well rested since that effort, Party Politics will face West Texas Futurity finalist ALittle Tempting and six others in the fourth race. Ramon Sanchez will pilot him from post number three.

To be ridden by Armando Cervantes for trainer Monty Arrossa, Aint He Tempting will be in action in the eighth race against a field that includes John Deere California Juvenile Challenge finalist A Revenant Lady and John Deere Ruidoso Juvenile Challenge finalist R Ladys Dynasty.

All eyes will be on Aint He Tempting following his hard-fought runner-up effort in the EdBurke as the 9-5 favorite. Awinner in his only other two career starts, the colt by Tempting Dash prepared for this race with a darling of a gate work at 220 yards when posting the bullet work of :12.10 on September 17. Bred by McColee Land & Livestock, Aint He Tempting will start from post number three.

A slew of new arrivals will be in action in the Golden State Million trials, few as well-known as RosenthalRanch LLC’s Cyber Attack. Purchased for $400,000 at the Ruidoso Yearling Sale last year, the Chris O’Dell trainee ran second in the Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity in his last start after winning his Rainbow trial by nearly three lengths.

His breeding line is synonymous with success at Los Alamitos, as he’s by Favorite Cartel and out of Remember Me Rose, making him a full brother to local Grade 1 winners Powerful Favorite, Runforyourlife, and Bomb Cyclone. Eduardo Nicasio will ride Cyber Attack from post number four in race 10.

The opening trial is among the strongest of the night, as it will feature Zynda Racing’s Wasting Light, who has raced in stakes events at both Remington Park and Ruidoso. Govenor’s Cup Futurity finalists Up For Everything and BFLizzierageous plus John Deere California runner-up FamousMiss Kitty and Remington Park Futurity finalist Mitey Like A Rose are among the other top contenders in this race.

The field will also feature AJBorn Runnin from the barn of trainer Jaime Gomez. She was a daylight winner in her trial to the PCQHRABreeders Futurity in her last start.

Other major stakes finalists in the trials include Jesus Nava’s Navaja, who qualified to both the Ed Burke and the Grade 2 Robert Adair Kindergarten Futurity, in the seventh race and The Quarter Company LLC’s Apollitical Jet, who is another Ed Burke finalist in the ninth. Jaime Gomez’s Hay Shaker, winner of the Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity, will also race in the ninth.

The list of top futurity finalists in action include Governor’sCup finalist Attacker, Firecracker Futurity finalist Dash To The Flash T, Kindergarten finalist Muy Bien Corona, All American Juvenile Stakes finalist Ajs Little Champ, and Rainbow Juvenile Stakes finalist Jeriko. Ajs Little Champ and Jeriko will face off in trial five.
