Pick Six Carryover Headlines Saturday Night Program At Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 149, 2022—Five allowance events and the local debuts of several talented juveniles will headline the 10-race program on Saturday night at Los Alamitos.

However, the big news item of the night is the big $32,357 Pick Six Carryover that will start in the fifth race of the night. With the new money expected to be wagered in the Pick Six, the total pool could be $150,000.

The Early Pick Four pool is a fun sequence as well, as three allowance events at 1,000 yards will kick off the racing action. The main event in the Early Pick Four is race four, as it will feature the return of William Hedrick’s outstanding distance runner Oh Jerry, who has won 11 of his last 14 starts. Oh Jerry’s last start was a neck victory in the $50,000 Summer Final at 1,000 yards on June 26. Midnight Somewhere, a winner in three of his last four starts under the lights here will also be in action.

In the Pick Six sequence, the 10th race is an allowance test featuring Ed Allred’s stakes winner Up The Ladder, stakes placed runner All Ways, and 2021 Rainbow Futurity finalist Candy Dice, who makes a quick return after running fourth in last Saturday’s Corona Kool Stakes. New arrivals include Ruidoso winners Cute Kiddy and Fire One Two Three in the 8th.

Here’s Los Alamitos racing analyst Chris Wade’s key play for Saturday night.

“In Race 9, the # 7-GAMBLING FAVORITE is a big bodied well-bred and connected runner who improved immensely in his third career start 34 nights ago when closing strongly for the runner-up placing after a less than stellar getaway. In said effort, this grey got a tad fractious in the gate prior to breaking a bit slow and then went to skiing past the gap to lose even more ground to the perfect tripped winner. After the less than stellar journey, this entrant did level out strongly nearing the wire to get within a neck at the finish while earning a solid figure that is very competitive in this event.”

The Los Alamitos Preview Show Webcast also delves into the Pick Six sequence for Saturday with Quarter Horse racing experts Ed Burgart, Chris Wade and Jose Contreras. The show can be accessed on YouTube here.
