Fastest Qualifier Cyber Attack, Ed Burke Winner Party Politics Head Golden State Million Final On Su

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—OCTOBER 28, 2022–Fastest qualifier Cyber Attack, Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity winner Party Politics and impressive trial winner Jeriko are among the 10 impressive juveniles that will get together for the running of the Grade 1, $1,087,250 Golden State Million Futurity on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

Owned by Rosenthal Ranch and bred by Steve Burns, Cyber Attack was most impressive on the night of the trials back on October 9, as she flew out of the gate and established a 1 ½ length lead by the midway point of the race.

Purchased for $400,000 at the 2021 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, the colt by a leading sire Favorite Cartel out of AQHA Dam of Distinction Remember Me Rose ended up winning his trial by 2 ¼ lengths in the fastest 400-yard qualifying time of :19.60. Another key number in Cyber Attack's win was his final 220-yard clocking of :09.39, which equaled Jeriko's final time on the night of the trials.

Cyber Attack's family is Quarter Horse racing royalty. His older brothers include the millionaire and multiple Grade 1 winner Powerful Favorite, 2019 Golden State Million Futurity winner Runforyourlife, and 2020 Grade 1 Ruidoso Futurity winner Cyber Monday. Another one of his full brothers is Bomb Cyclone, the winner of the 2021 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and the fastest qualifier to next week's Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby.

Cyber Attack has one other notable sibling in the Steve Burns-owned filly Temple Court. Cyber Attack will be facing her in the Golden State Million final, with Eduardo Nicasio riding Cyber Attack while his brother Jose Nicasio pilots Temple Court. Has that ever happened before in Quarter Horse racing where brothers will be riding against each other while aboard full siblings in a million-dollar race?

Trained by Chris O'Dell, Cyber Attack will start from post number four, while the Mike Casselman-trained Temple Court will start from post number nine.

JGA Racing Stables' Party Politics will start from post number 10 in search of his second win in a race featuring a million-dollar purse. Ridden by Ramon Sanchez, this track's all-time leading rider in stakes wins, Party Politics won the $1 million Ed Burke on June 19 and in his first start back after that victory, he scored a solid ½ length victory in his Golden State Million trial. Juan Aleman will saddle the J. Garvan Kelly-bred gelding sired by Apollitical Jess.

In his Los Alamitos debut, Bobby Cox's homebred Jeriko ran a tremendous race when winning his Golden State Million trial by 2 ½ lengths in the second fastest qualifying time of :19.70. The gelding by One Famous Eagle was fourth at the start of his 400-yard trial but he picked up speed with each stride and as previously mentioned his final 220-yard time was as fast as Cyber Attack's "come home time." Rodrigo Sigala Vallejo will ride Jeriko from post number one.

Hay Shaker will look to go from claims to richest when he starts from post number six in the Golden State Million final. The Favorite Cartel gelding was claimed for $12,500 after winning the $54,000 Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity on August 21 and then followed that victory with a sizzling effort in his Golden State Million trial.

Hay Shaker's winning time of :19.92 earned a spot in the final and a golden opportunity to earn the winner's share of the purse of $445,305. That would be quite a treasure trove for the former claimer. Bred by Paul Jones and Thompson Racing, Hay Shaker was purchased by Alfredo Alonzo and Robert Martinez prior to the Golden State Million final. Jaime Gomez will saddle the gray gelding.

Grant Cox Revocable Trust's Flash Of Gold, a half-brother to 2020 Golden State Million winner Apollitical Gold, and The Quarter Company LLC's Apollitical Jet, who also competed in the Ed Burke Million earlier this year, are among the other notable runners in this event.

Eddie Willis will saddle Flash Of Gold. He was also the winning trainer with Apollitical Gold. Valentin Zamudio trains Apollitical Jet, who won the $50,000 West Texas Juvenile prior to his California landing. P&J Racing Ltd.'s AJ Born Runnin, an impressive winner in three of her six career starts, will also be saddled by Jaime Gomez on Sunday.

Willis also trains Zynda Racing's Wasting Light, a gelding by The Marfa Lights and out local stakes winner Foo Who, won a futurity trial at Remington Park and qualified to this race after running second to AJ Born Runnin.

Rounding out of the field is William Smith's Political Royalty, who is the only maiden in this race after running second to fastest qualifier Cyber Attack. Sired by Apollitical Jess, Political Royalty was purchase for $250,000 at the Heritage Place Sale last year. Her dam is Trendi, a graded stakes winner of nearly $400,000 in her racing career.

The field from the rail out is as follows: Jeriko, Flash Of Gold, Apollitical Jet, Cyber Attack, Political Royalty, Hay Shaker, Wasting Light, AJ Born Runnin, Temple Court, and Party Politics.

The 10-race program will also feature the $30,000 Ah Sigh Handicap for 2-year-olds. Space Flight and Secret Success, winners of their respective Freshman Stakes Divisions on California Breeders Champions Night, will headline this seven-horse field. Firecracker Futurity winner AJ Run For Cash and Governor's Cup Futurity runner-up Required First will be joined by Hes Chickless, Up For Everything, and Price Fixer in this race.

The Ah Sigh is named in honor of Frank Nakamura's multiples graded stakes winning champions. Nakamura named the First Down Dash mare after his wife, Asaye. The filly went on to win 13 of 29 starts, including the 1994 Golden State Futurity. She won eight of nine starts during her 2-year-old campaign.
