Sunland Park Will Reopen Its Casino and Resume Simulcast Operations March 5

SUNLAND PARK, NM—FEBRUARY 25, 2021—After shutting down last spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the casino and simulcast operations at Sunland Park Racetrack in southwestern New Mexico will reopen on March 5.

The casino portion of the property, which contains slots, video poker machines, and electronic table games, will reopen at 10 a.m. (MST) on that date.

The news of the casino reopening comes one week after the New Mexico Racing Commission voted unanimously to cancel Sunland Park's 2020-21 race meet (see related story), which was scheduled to consist of 42 dates from December 26-March 30.

"Per the February 24 health order issued by the State of New Mexico, Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino has been approved to reopen at 25 percent capacity," said Sunland Park director of marketing Ethan Linder, who added that per the public health order there will be no indoor dining but the casino will be open and simulcast wagering on imported track signals will be allowed to take place.

Sunland Park officials say they are hiring for many positions. For more information on employment opportunities, call the track's human resources department at (575) 874-5200.
