LEXINGTON, KY–MARCH 21, 2023–After announcing some of the world's richest horse races, longtime announcer Robert Fox, Jr. will call the races for the upcoming Quarter Horse meet in Lexington, Kentucky at the 2023 Sandy Ridge At The Red Mile meet on April 1st  thru April 6th.

Fox, Jr. will be the voice of Sandy Ridge at Red Mile as the meet transpires for six-days of Quarter Horse racing in the heart of the Kentucky bluegrass country, where hundreds of the nation's top quarter horses will be racing throughout the week, with more than $1.2 million in purses to be awarded.

"I truly love horse racing and hope the fans can hear that excitement in my voice," said Fox. "I'm honored to help re-introduce quarter horse racing in a place as special as Kentucky. This is going to be a blast!"

Fox is known as the "Voice of the All-American Futurity," as he has called the richest quarter horse race in the world at Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico since joining the track in 2004. He has been announcing horse races for 30 years, including recent stints at Louisiana Downs, Wyoming Downs, Rillito Racetrack and other legendary tracks. He is the second-longest tenured announcer in Ruidoso Downs history but has yet to call a race in the state of Kentucky.

"A Thoroughbred race is like NASCAR and a Quarter Horse race is like drag racing – both are very exciting in their own unique ways," said Fox. "I think Kentucky horse racing fans are really going to love watching Quarter Horse races."

Sandy Ridge at Red Mile are the inaugural races for Revolutionary Racing Kentucky, which was awarded the Commonwealth's ninth and final horse racing license last year. The group is investing $55 million into building a racetrack and gaming facility in Ashland, Kentucky.  That racetrack in Ashland is set to open for racing in 2025, while Sandy's Racing and Gaming is set to open later this year.
