ALBUQUERRQUE, NM—AUGUST 20, 2020—Madewell and Illtakeyouforaride, the winners of the two trials contested on August 8, are among the eight distance specialists entered back in Sunday’s 870-yard, $52,000 AQHA Albuquerque Distance Challenge (G3) at Albuquerque Downs.
A homebred 6-year-old son of Jess Jones, Madewell is trained by Bernard Baca for owners Ray Madewell and Davy Madewell. Madewell drew post 3 and will be ridden by J. Martin Bourdieu.
Illtakeyouforaride is a 6-year-old gelded son of champion FDD Dynasty owned by the Illtakeyouforaride Partnership headed by Linda Joiner and Jarett Rogers. Trained by Mike Joiner, Illtakeyouforaride has won five of 11 starts at the 870 trip, including last year’s $50,000 Herman Jefferson Stakes at Zia Park and $20,000 Bill Reed Memorial Stakes at Ruidoso Downs.
Illtakeyouforaride drew post 4 and will be ridden by L. Salvador Martinez.
