Heavy Favorite Shockinglyfamous Wins The $34,689 AQHA Distance Challenge (G3) By Daylight

CLAREMORE, OK–OCTOBER 2, 2022–Shockinglyfamous easily cleared the pack with a victory by daylight in the $34,689 AQHA Distance Challenge (G3) at Will Rogers Downs Sunday afternoon.

Ridden by Cody Wainscott, Shockinglyfamous led the competition from gate-to-wire in the 870-yard distance race. At second call, the post-time favorite was already two-lengths ahead of Hi High Hopes and kept that margin to the wire clocking a 101 speed index in :45.470 seconds. 

Hi High Hopes, with L. Salvador Martinez in the irons, hustled for the finish but weakened at the wire, placing second three-lengths ahead of Seb Ember who was guided by jockey Stormy Smith.

Shockinglyfamous has lit the board in every out from nine starts this season with eight of them in stakes competition, including a victory in the Jesse Yoakum Memorial 870 stakes. 

Kasey Willis conditions Shockinglyfamous and also owns him in partnership with Stone Chase Stables, LLC. The six-year-old colt has 9 career wins, 5 stakes wins and $276,891 in the bank. 

Bred by Clarence Scharbauer, III, Shockinglyfamous is out of Shocktime by Langfuhr (TB). The son of One Famous Eagle was repurchased by his current owners in last year’s 2021 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale for $95,000. 

Runner-up Hi High Hopes has three career wins with $63,957 in earnings. Bradley Bolen saddled the four-year-old son of Favorite Cartel for owner Cole Clinger. 

Bred by Paul Jones of California, Hi High Hopes’ dam is the Stel Corona mare Brighterthanthesun, who is a full sister to AQHA champion Foose.

Third place finisher Seb Ember is trained by Charlton Hunt for owner Sam Brookover. The five-year-old daughter of Walk Thru Fire has seven career wins with $93,319 in her bankroll. The G3 winning mare is bred by Clarence Scharbauer, III and is out of Wisestar (TB) by Henry Hughes (TB).

Completing the order of finish is Dance The Dust Off, ridden by Nakia Teeter in fourth and Jess Up V, under Gonzalo Gutierrez, in fifth.
