CLAREMORE, OK–OCTOBER 2, 2022–Heavy favorite to win, Lynnder 16 scores second graded stakes victory of the year in $35,530 Q-Racing Video Distaff Challenge (G3) at Will Rogers Downs on Sunday afternoon.
Guided by Edwin Escobedo, Lynnder 16 broke sharply and led the field from wire-to-wire for a length win over Dox Notta Fox and jockey Roman Cruz. The 400-yard victory resulted in a 97 speed index in :19.762 seconds.
The $17,765 winner’s share of the AQHA Distaff Challenge (G3) increased Lynnder 16’s already padded purse to $820,979. The daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess is conditioned by 2021 AQHA champion trainerJason Olmstead and has 18 career wins with 10 of those victories in stakes competition.
Lynnder 16’s current owners Tom Maher and Richard Tobin bought her for $31,000 in the 2017 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. Bred by James and Marilyn Helzer of Oklahoma, the six-year-old mare’s dam is the Corona Cartel multiple stakes producing mare Tinys Corona Queen, who is out of AQHA Champion Tiny First Effort.
Dox Notta Fox, ridden by Roman Cruz broke in for second with a dueling effort but just couldn’t catch Lynnder 16. Trained by Cosme Quijada, the four-year-old daughter of Wagon Tales has four career wins with $88,497 in the bank for owner Ismael Quijada.
Bred by Alice Gay Steward of Oklahoma, Dox Notta Fox is out of Dox Strawflyin Annie by Strawflyin Buds.
Also conditioned by Jason Olmstead, Apollitical Mogul had a late run for show with Cody Smith at the reigns. The six-year-old daughter of Apollitical Jess has won four stakes races with 11 career wins and a bankroll of $232,310.
Breeder Mercy Hinklin’s Horse Farm, LLC sold Apollitical Mogul to her owner Tom Maher for $20,000 in the 2017 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Her dam is multiple graded stakes winner producer Cash Cartel by Corona Cartel.
The remaining order f finish is Sophia Maria, Cute Lil Candy Girl and Cj Classy Sassy Chic. Apollitical J Julia was scratched by her trainer.
