First Win Of Season For Chilli Red Who Clocks Fastest Time To Adequan Sam Houston Derby Challenge
Chilli Red, under jockey Noe Villatoro, posts the fastest qualifying time for the $73,304 Adequan Sam Houston Derby Challenge on Friday at Sam Houston Race Park.

First Win Of Season For Chilli Red Who Clocks Fastest Time To Adequan Sam Houston Derby Challenge

HOUSTON, TX–MAY 26, 2023–Sam Houston Race Park’s last three races on Friday night’s card were slotted for the $73,304 Adequan Sam Houston Derby Challenge. The top three fastest qualifiers were the winner’s of each trial race, including Chilli Red, Dash For The Flash and Crimson Cash, respectively.

Piloted by Noe Villatoro, fastest qualifier Chilli Red egressed from the gates in second but quickly found his stride by first call. The post-time favorite easily lead the rest of the 400-yard trial race clocking a 94 speed in :20.237 seconds for a 1 1/2-length victory over Kas Hes Revenant, who is also a finalist.

Trainer Adan Guzman saddled the homebred son of Lethal Corona for owner/breeder Mickey Tiner. Chilli Red has lit the board four of six starts with $24,428 in the bank. He is out of stakes winner Makeala, by Make It Anywhere.

Second fastest qualifier Dash For The Flash won the third trial of the night under the his rider Eddie Sanchez. The post-time favorite clocked a 93 speed index in :20.259 seconds winning by 1 1/4-lengths over Capo On Fire.

This is the second victory of the season for Dash For The Flash who has three career wins from five starts and $28,080 in the bank. The son of Tempting Dash is conditioned by Jose Sanchez, III.

Dash For The Flash’s owner Jose Chavez bought him from breeder Curtis Crenwelge for $25,000 in the 2021 TQHA Yearling Sale. He is out of the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Its Braggin Time.

Crimson Cash, ridden by Jose Herbert, finally breaks her maiden with a gate-to-wire win in :20.379 seconds for the third fastest qualifying time. The daughter of Open Me A Corona has lit the board eight of 12 starts with $26,180 in earnings.

Crimson Cash’s owner Carrillo Racing bought her for $13,000 from breeder Bullard Farms in the 2021 TQHA Yearling Sale. The Texas-bred filly is out of Zoom In On Me by Shazoom.
