SELMA, TX—MARCH 19, 2020—Retama Park will continue its series of training races on Friday (March 20) with another 12 race card set for a noon (CDT) post.

Race 1 thru 3 have been carded for Maiden 3-Year-Olds & Up while the remainder of program will be Maiden 2-Year-Olds. All races will be contested over 250 yards.

A pair of $30,000 summer sale yearling graduates, by leading sire Apollitical Jess, will face off in Race 5 for red hot trainers Josue Ponce and Jose Sanchez III.

Ponce will send out Jess A Candy Rogue, from post position 5, for owners Edmar and Omar Paredes. The bay colt is the second foal of racing age by the winning Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare All About The Candy, a sister to stakes winner Send Candy Power. Victor Manuel Urieta, Jr. will ride.

Sold in the 2019 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale for $30,000 by Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Brock Broussard, Jess A Candy Rogue is from the family of Speedhorse Futurity(RG1) winner This Candys Red Hot and champion Jess Good Candy.

Sanchez III will saddle Apollitical Pushing, a $30,000 Heritage Place September Yearling graduate owned by AA Farms LLC. Consigned by Robicheaux Ranch, Inc., Agent the bay colt is out of Grade 1-placed Pushing Dazies, by Strawflying Buds, a half-sister to three-time champion Jess You And I. Eddie Sanchez will ride from outside post 6.
