Stakes winner Charlies Fury will head the $17,500 OQHRA Fall Classic Stakes Saturday afternoon at Will Rogers Downs.

CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 12, 2020—The Black Gold Futurity card on Saturday at Will Rogers Downs includes two undercard stakes, starting with the $17,500 OQHRA Fall Classic Stakes.

The 400-yard event for 3-year-olds and up features 7-5 morning-line favorite Charlies Fury, who was last seen in Albuquerque in the Grade 1 Bank of America Challenge Championship. After leading early in the race, the 4-year-old Furyofthewind gelding finished fourth behind multiple stakes winners Danjer, Mi Amor Secreto and Eagles Fly Higher. Charlies Fury was second to Eagles Fly Higher in the Bank of America Prairie Meadows Championship Challenge (G2) this fall .

Charlies Fury has earned over $250,000 in his career and will be in search of his sixth career win on Saturday with regular rider Agustin Silva aboard. Michelle Hurdle trains for owners and breeders Tom and Kathleen McNally.

Charlies Fury has never finished out of the money at Will Rogers or at Saturday’s 400-yard distance. He will face Jk Wildcat red on his outside who has two career wins at Will Rogers, including his last start, also at 400 yards.

Cristian Esqueda has the call on Jk Wildcat Red for trainer Kenny Laymon and owner Regina Laymon. The One Dashing Eagle gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Jk Running Horses.

The field for the $17,500 OQHRA Fall Classic Stakes is Race 4 at Will Rogers on Saturday, November 14. Post time is 1:15 PM CT.
