Chicks With Coronas and Cajun King will face off again in the $59,200 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby at Will Rogers on Saturday afternoon.

CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 12, 2020—In a rematch of their trial, Chicks With Coronas and Cajun King will be the pair to watch in the $59,200 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby at Will Rogers on Saturday afternoon.

Two trials on October 24 determined the field for the open 350-yard stake for 3-year-olds, led by fastest qualifier Chicks With Coronas. The Apollitical Blood filly surged late to win the trial by a neck over Cajun King.

Prior to the Speedhorse Derby trials, Chicks With Coronas won an allowance at Prairie Meadows, and also has an allowance win at Will Rogers under her belt. Despite being the fastest qualifier, she is the second choice behind 2-1 morning line favorite and second fastest qualifier Cajun King.

While the Speedhorse Derby will be the first career stakes race for Chicks With Coronas, Cajun King is already a stakes winner. The son of The Louisiana Cartel won the Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity (RG3) at Will Rogers last fall and returned to finish third in the Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Derby this fall. As a 2-year-old, he also qualified to the Black Gold 350 Championship Futurity and competed in the Heritage Place Juvenile at Remington.

The $59,200 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby is Race 5 on at Will Rogers on Saturday, November 14. Post time is 1:40 PM CT.
