CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 12, 2020—The feature races of the card this Saturday at Will Rogers are the pair of Black Gold 400 Championship Futurities, led by fastest qualifiers Sweet Candy Jewel in the Lassies Division of the $229,800 Black Gold 400 Championship Futurity (RG3) and Seven in the Lads Division of the $183,700 Black Gold 400 Championship Futurity (RG3). Both futurities are restricted to horses sired by participating stallions.

Sweet Candy Jewel, sired by Jess Good Candy, won her trial on October 25 by a neck over morning-line favorite Cindydoesitagain. Their race was the last of six trials and was fast enough to produce three of the ten qualifiers.

Cindydoesitagain was the third fastest qualifier but is the most accomplished in the field. The daughter of Capo de Capi was second in the Oklahoma Horsemen’s Association Mystery Futurity (RG2) in her previous start and qualified to the Speedhorse Quarter Horse Futurity (G3) at Fair Meadows this summer.

Fastest qualifier and post-time favorite Seven will be the one to watch in the Lads Division of the $183,700 Black Gold 400 Championship Futurity. This summer, Seven and his regular rider Cody Smith teamed up to finish third in the Rainbow Futurity (G1). The Kiss My Hocks gelding has five career wins, including his impressive 1 1/2 -length victory in his Black Gold 400 trial.

Jockey Justine Klaiber is on two live horses in the futurity divisions on Saturday. Klaiber made history earlier this month as the first female jockey to win a million-dollar race at Los Alamitos when she piloted Apollitical Gold to victory in the $1,104,550 Golden State Million Futurity.

Klaiber seeks to continue her banner year with mounts in both divisions of the Black Gold 400 Futurity at Will Rogers, where she rides regularly and wins at 17%. In the Lads Divison, Klaiber will ride third fastest qualifier Quorumm for the first time, a Tres Seis gelding who recently finished second in the John Deere Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge before winning his Black Gold trial.

In the Lassies Division, Klaiber returns to ride La Ventaja, who finished third in her trial as the fourth fastest qualifier. Le Ventaja sits on the morning line at the 4-1 second choice after being outnodded at the wire in the fastest of the six trials.

The Lassies Division of the $229,800 Black Gold 400 Championship Futurity (RG3) is Race 6 on Saturday at Will Rogers; post time 2:05 PM CT. The Lads Division of the $183,700 Black Gold 400 Championship will be run as Race 7 at 2:30 PM CT.
