Los Alamitos Resumes With Solid Eight-Race Card On Friday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—FEBRUARY 11, 2021—Los Alamitos Race Course resumes its live nighttime racing action with a solid eight-race program on Friday night headed by a $12,540 allowance event for Quarter Horses at 330 yards.

The field for Friday’s featured race will be led by $320,000 Governor’s Cup Futurity finalist Favorite Five and Corona Chick Handicap contenders One Sweet Venom and No Questions. First post for the eight-race card is 6 p.m. (PST).

The popular Early Pick Four will kick off with a field of eight fillies and mares facing off in a 4-˝ furlong test for Thoroughbreds. This lineup will be led by Alfonso Mota’s Havasu Hunni, ridden by Kellie McDaid for trainer Lorenzo Ruiz, a Kentucky-bred mare with good early speed and a runner-up finisher in each of her last three starts. The other three legs of the sequence will each feature a seven-horse field.

The Late Pick Four sequence will begin with a seven-horse field of fillies and mares, this time racing at 1,000 yards. Leading trainer Jesus Uranga will saddle Back Beauty in this event against Rosemary Trela’s impressive winner Purdue and Delico Racing and Lizbeth Molina’s Way Too Sweet, who enters this race following a daylight victory on January 24.

The other races in the Late Pick Four sequence will feature fields of 8, 6 and 8. The sixth race will include Alipio Burgos and Jorge Quintero’s Comaneci, who will be making her career debut in this race and has looked impressive in her morning gate works, as well as the returning A Blue Girls Candy, who will be making her first start since running third in a trial to the Ed Burke Million Futurity on June 7.

In the featured eighth race allowance event, Ed Allred will have a pair of solid performers in the form of Registrant and No Questions, both exiting solid third place finishes, while Favorite Five will look to return to the form he displayed when running second to fastest qualifier Untuckit in the trials to the Governor’s Cup Futurity back on July 11. He has finished no higher than fourth in his three subsequent outings.
